庙制_孔子家语
衛將軍文子將立三軍之廟於其家，使子羔訪於孔子．子曰：「公廟設於私家，非古禮之所及，吾弗知．」子羔曰：「敢問尊卑上下立廟之制，可得而聞乎？」孔子曰：「天下有王，分地建國設祖宗，乃為親疏貴賤多少之數．是故天子立七廟，三昭三穆，與太祖之廟七，太祖近廟，皆月祭之，遠廟為祧，有二祧焉，享嘗乃止；諸侯立五廟，二昭二穆，與太祖之廟而五，曰祖考廟，享嘗乃止；大夫立三廟，一昭一穆，與太廟而三，曰皇考廟，享嘗乃止；士立一廟，曰考廟，王考無廟，合而享嘗乃止；庶人無廟，四時祭於寢．此自有虞以至于周之所不變也．凡四代帝王之所謂郊者，皆以配天，其所謂禘者，皆五年大祭之所及也．應為太祖者，則其廟不毀，不及太祖，雖在禘郊，其廟則毀矣．古者祖有功而宗有德，謂之祖宗者，其廟皆不毀．」
子羔問曰：「祭典云：『昔有虞氏祖顓頊而宗堯，夏后氏亦祖顓頊而宗禹，殷人祖契而宗湯，周人祖文王而宗武王．』此四祖四宗，或乃異代，或其考祖之有功德，其廟可也．』若有虞宗堯，夏祖顓頊，皆異代之有功德者也，亦可以存其廟乎？」孔子曰：「善，如汝所聞也．如殷周之祖宗，其廟可以不毀，其他祖宗者，功德不殊，雖在殊代，亦可以無疑矣．詩云：『蔽芾甘棠，勿翦勿伐，邵伯所憩．』周人之於邵公也，愛其人猶敬其所舍之樹，況祖宗其功德而可以不尊奉其廟焉．」
