皇天隆物,以示施下民,或厚或薄,常不齐均。桀纣以乱,汤武以贤。涽涽淑淑,皇皇穆穆。周流四海,曾不崇日。君子以修,跖以穿室。大参乎天,精微而无形,行义以正,事业以成。可以禁暴足穷,百姓待之而后泰宁。臣愚不识,愿问其名。
曰:此夫安宽平而危险隘者邪?修洁之为亲,而杂污之为狄者邪?甚深藏而外胜敌者邪?法禹舜而能弇迹者邪?行为动静待之而后适者邪?血气之精也,志意之荣也,百姓待之而后宁也,天下待之而后平也,明达纯粹而无疵也,夫是之谓君子之知--知。
有物于此,居则周静致下,动则綦高以钜,圆者中规,方者中矩,大参天地,德厚尧禹,精微乎毫毛,而充盈乎大寓。忽兮其极之远也,攭兮其相逐而反也,卬卬兮天下之咸蹇也。德厚而不捐,五采备而成文,往来惛惫,通于大神,出入甚极,莫知其门。天下失之则灭,得之则存。弟子不敏,此之愿陈,君子设辞,请测意之。
